Developing Online Presentation with

Microsoft Producer and Text-to-Speech System.

 

Abstract

Computers and the Internet free educators to spend less time on direct instruction, but do not diminish the role of the educator.  To enjoy the scalability and ease of delivery of instruction, Microsoft Producer, coupled with Natural Text-to-Speech engines provide a good method of creating online presentation with ease and integrity.

 

Objectives

The objective of this workshop is to equip the participants with:

·         Basics of Web-based presentation

·         Use of Microsoft Producer

·         Fundamentals of Voice Recording and Sound files for web

·         Use of Text-to-speech system

·         Incorporation of Voice/Video with Microsoft Producer

·         Publishing the presentation to the Web

 

Participant Pre-requiste

Must be able to create Powerpoint presentations

 

The participant is to come prepared for the workshop with the following:

  • A powerpoint presentation on any topic
  • The presentation script (in Text file/Word file)

Instructor Qualification

Mak Wai Keong, is currently a PhD candidate with the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.  His area of research focuses on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and 3D Multi-User Virtual Environment for teaching and learning.  He has worked on Business Simulation projects with University of Hawaii (COMPETE Data Entry System, CODES) and published 4 refereed conference papers with Association of Business in Simulation and Experiential Learning.  He has a Masters of Science (Management of Technology) and worked a Multimedia Programmer skilled in interface design, multimedia authoring and 3D modeling, and has created an online learning management system and conducted online courses using software agents for delivery.
